Year 5: 01.10.25

October 1, 2025
Year 5 2025 26

Since our last year five blog, we have had great excitement getting ready for the scarecrow festival, contributing a class scarecrow- named ‘Big Farmer Jim’ by the children. Gracie also provided her own scarecrow- Little Jim. Well done, Gracie!

In literacy lessons, the class have been getting ready to start their suspense warm writes, learning more about how authors use tools such as character reactions, dramatic fronted adverbials and semi-colons for contrast.

Our knowledge about physics has deepened, as we have been learning about the work of Nicholaus Copernicus and his heliocentric theory. The class have also been learning about night and day and about year length, in relation to the movement of the earth.

Our Explorers topic has now taken us to the life of Captain James Cook and his secret mission to discover a new Southern Land…more to come next week.

Thank you for your continued support with reading, learning spellings and completing homework on time. Year five could not do it without you!
