Year Five: Autumn 2 update.

December 18, 2023
Year 5 2023 24

Autumn 2 update.

P.E. will be on Tuesday and Friday. Please make sure that PE kits are in school on these days. The class will need to come to school in uniform on Tuesdays and get changed for the P.E lesson. The class can continue to come to school wearing their P.E. kit on Friday as P.E. is straight after morning assembly and there is limited time for getting changed.

Our new topics are South America (a geography topic) and materials (a science topic).

We will be learning about the biomes, climate zones, stunning natural features, countries and population densities of this fascinating continent. We will be using a range of globes, atlases and digital maps.

Materials is a very practical science topic involving fair test investigations and lots of ‘hands on’ science. This is always a popular topic and I am sure that the class will enjoy it.

We have had a very busy and enjoyable firs term and your children have really impressed me with their fantastic learning attitudes. I am proud to be their teacher and I am very much looking forward to all that this half term will bring.

On this page you will find a variety of resources to support your child’s learning journey as well as a regular blog of the Year 5 experiences.

I’m sure everyone will enjoy our exciting, new curriculum topics.  Our first theme is ‘Explorers’. This is a history focused topic where children will be developing their understanding of the chronology of key events. Children will explore why explorations happened, the impact this had on British society in the 16th and 17th centuries as well as learning about famous explorers throughout history.

I will look forward to seeing you all after the break. For now, please click on the links below for more information.
