Are you in the process of looking for the right primary school for your reception-aged child?

We are open for tours, please contact the office. For further information, see our admissions page.

Our After School Club runs everyday from 3.15pm until 6pm.

The club is supervised by members of staff from our school. The children receive healthy snacks and drinks and are involved in a range of exciting activities.

Pupils throughout the school have consistently good attitudes to learning and they work hard. They respect their teachers highly and say that learning is exciting.

Staff have responded positively to the much higher expectations and were quick to tell the inspector about their pride in working at Cogenhoe and about the successes they are achieving together.

Pupils wear their uniform with pride and are very supportive of each other.

Book your child's place for Forest School Easter Camp on 28th March via School Money!

Year Six – Day Two – Caving and Curry

June 26, 2024
Year 6 2023 24

We started the day with a big breakfast of cereal, toast and yoghurt. Children are taking it in turns in groups of 3 to prepare the dining area and clean away after the meal. Barney’s hosting skills are on fire and I will certainly go to a party he is hosting if the drinks get topped up as quickly as they did yesterday.

After breakfast, the children made their own lunches ready for the trip away to Porth Yr Ogof for our caving experience.

The bus journey was around an hour and a half. On arrival, we ate part of the lunch so we were fuelled for the caves. Both groups took on a variety of challenges in the caves from tight spaces of the toilet and letter-box to freezing cold water challenges. The screams in the cold water could probably be heard across the whole of Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons).

The bus journey on the way home for Mr Evans and Miss Sartain was slightly quieter than Mrs Reeve’s bus. Most of bus 1 fell asleep for the journey.

Curry, rice and mango chutney was the food for the evening, eating by all. Barney clearly enjoys a curry and John is a lemon drizzle and custard fan (just the 5 helpings); but they both had earnt it for their efforts in the daytime.

The evening activity was orienteering but the highlight was the discovery of a hedgehog and a large stick. Both of which was more exciting than following the England game. Further evening entertainment came from an invented game of Tennis Trash and the ‘emergency’ of a spider in one of the boys’ tent. Bedtime came well after midnight when the teachers had had enough and went to bed.

Local wildlife woke us up around 4am which was lovely and breakfast has been inhaled again ready for a day on-site on the rope courses and Stand-Up Paddleboarding. Weather is glorious! And so are the children!
