Are you in the process of looking for the right primary school for your reception-aged child?

We are open for tours, please contact the office. For further information, see our admissions page.

Our After School Club runs everyday from 3.15pm until 6pm.

The club is supervised by members of staff from our school. The children receive healthy snacks and drinks and are involved in a range of exciting activities.

Pupils throughout the school have consistently good attitudes to learning and they work hard. They respect their teachers highly and say that learning is exciting.

Staff have responded positively to the much higher expectations and were quick to tell the inspector about their pride in working at Cogenhoe and about the successes they are achieving together.

Pupils wear their uniform with pride and are very supportive of each other.

Book your child's place for Forest School Easter Camp on 28th March via School Money!

Early Years 2024 25

This week in our Talk for Writing session, the children had an exciting time as they explored the concept of characters, a key element of storytelling. We began by identifying the characters in our focus story, The Magic Porridge Pot. The children did a fantastic job recognising and discussing the different characters in the tale. They then expanded this learning by exploring other books, searching for and identifying characters in various stories.

In Mathematics, the children deepened their understanding of sorting, matching, and comparing. They developed their own sorting rules and explained their reasoning, which was wonderful to observe. We also focused on comparing amounts, using terms like “the most,” “the least,” and “equal.”

Our Hospital Roleplay Area has been incredibly popular! It has provided a great opportunity to reinforce learning about maintaining a healthy body and mind, as well as understanding how the body works. The children especially enjoyed using stethoscopes to listen to each other’s heartbeats and engaging in mark-making on prescription slips. This hands-on activity has been a fantastic way to support their learning about the human body.

It’s been a week full of discovery and learning, and we’re excited to continue our journey!
