Year 2: 10.10.24

October 9, 2024
Year 2 2024 25

This week we have started our first computing unit! We have investigated what is information technology, where we would find it and what benefits it has to us. So far, we have sorted out information technology into what is and what is not, did a technology hunt around the school, found items that were technology inside and outside and practised how to resize, drag and reposition a picture. Our last lesson, was to discover how IT can impact everyday jobs/tasks to make it easier. We discussed supermarkets and how the barcodes feed information to the computers/tills about their price and product. Miss Noble then gave us a lot of barcodes – we had to memorise their pattern, do a scavenger hunt to find the item, then scramble to find the price. All of this was in different places around the school hall. After doing 7 products the children said they were exhausted having to do all this work, we then discussed that the average supermarket can supply around £35,829 products. Just the thought made Year 2 need a lie down.
