To start off this half term, we had a brilliant day dressed as Pirates! The children stayed in character the whole day and really enjoyed being immersed in the topic with lots of different activities. We started the day with Book Talk, with the book ‘The Pirates Next Door!’, we then went on a treasure hunt around the school, the children had to work out the rhymes to find the next clue. We spent some time playing pirate games whilst learning the names of parts of a ship. The children then created their own wanted posters for missing pirates! We ended the day learning about Captain Cook and all the voyages he had been on.
We are also very thankful to the PTA for funding our Library Topic box full of fantastic pirate themed books, the children loved spending some time looking at different books.
