What an exciting week we’ve had in Reception! As part of our T4W unit on Owl Babies, the children were over the moon to meet a very special visitor—a falconer and his amazing birds of prey!
The hall was filled with awe and wonder as the children learned all about owls, their silent flight, and their incredible adaptations like sharp eyesight and camouflage. The moment the birds swooped gracefully through the hall was truly unforgettable! To make the day even more special, we also got to meet a hedgehog and discover all about its nocturnal habits—it was such a treat to see the children so engaged and curious.
In Maths, we’ve been exploring shapes with four sides. The children have loved spotting the similarities and differences between rectangles and squares. This tied in perfectly with our Art lessons, where we’ve been learning about primary colours and the work of Piet Mondrian. Inspired by his bold, geometric style, the children created their very own colourful masterpieces using four-sided shapes.
It’s been such a busy and magical week—we can’t wait for more adventures next week!
