Early Years 2024 25

This week, we reached the end of our focus story, The Enormous Turnip, in Talk for Writing. The children had so much fun innovating the story by changing what the farmer grew—there were some very creative ideas! Their storytelling skills have really blossomed, and we’re so impressed with their imagination.

In Maths, we’ve been working on the concept of “5 and a bit.” The children explored which numbers are made up of 5 and some more. This activity helped them build a strong understanding of number composition and laid the groundwork for early addition skills.

As part of our learning about farms and how vegetables grow, the children took a walk to the local shop. They loved choosing items to buy and even had the exciting experience of posting a letter. These real-life experiences sparked lots of curiosity and great conversations about food and how it gets to our plates.

What a fabulous week of learning!
