What a wonderful term it has been! The children have been busy exploring, creating, and discovering through a wide range of activities.
In Talk for Writing, we have been focusing on the story There’s No Dragon in This Story. This text opened up fantastic opportunities for the children to make connections with traditional tales they already knew. They loved thinking about which stories the dragon could visit next and enjoyed exploring different characters and their adventures. This work really helped to develop their understanding of story structures and character roles.
In maths, the children became shape experts. They explored the properties of 3D shapes through sorting activities and then set to work building their very own castles. It was wonderful to watch them recognising and naming shapes with increasing confidence, applying their learning in such a creative way. The children have also been learning about doubling. They have doubled spots on ten frames, ladybirds and butterflies!
Spring arrived not just in the classroom, but quite literally on our doorstep with a very special visit from two one-month-old lambs. Meeting the lambs was a magical moment, giving the children the chance to think carefully about new life, growth, and how we care for living things. Their curiosity shone through as they asked thoughtful questions about the role of farmers and what it takes to raise lambs.
It has been a term full of curiosity, teamwork, and plenty of smiles. We are so proud of everything the children have achieved!
