Pupil Premium
Premium grant from the Department of Education is allocated to schools to support certain pupils with their learning. Funding is given to schools for pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds who fall into a set of agreed categories such as Free School Meals. This should not be confused with Universal free School Meals, which are available to all children in Reception to Year Two.
At our school, we use the funding to support the learning of these pupils, so that they make good progress in the core areas and that any potential barriers to their learning are removed. We also use the money to provide additional support to meet the well-being of our pupils who are entitled to the Pupil Premium Funding. This for example can include providing additional nurture support at playtime or covering the cost of additional curriculum opportunities, such as clubs, trips, the residential for our pupils in Year Six and providing wrap around care at our Breakfast and After School Club.
Pupil Premium Ambition:
To narrow the attainment gap between pupils – Our aim is to ensure that there is no attainment gap between the outcomes achieved for our pupils who qualify for the funding and other pupils nationally and within the school.
To ensure that ‘Pupil Premium’ children benefit from having access to a broad range of opportunities, experiences and clubs. We passionately believe this benefits their wider personal development enabling them to be more happy, confident and successful in and out of school.
To ensure excellent school attendance in order for our children to benefit from the education and opportunities provided by the school

Pupil Premium Letter for Parents
Pupil Premium Leaflet
Mrs Blackwell is our Pupil Premium Lead and personalises the learning to the needs of each child who receives the funding, so that they can make accelerated progress in a specific area of their learning. During the morning sessions, Mrs Blackwell works with targeted intervention groups across the school to ensure that our pupil premium children are targeted effectively. In the afternoons, children are supported on either a 1:1 basis or in a small group with the focus very much on the child who is entitled to the support. In addition, Mrs Blackwell and class teachers also work closely with our pupil premium families, through holding structured conversation meetings to ensure that learning is accelerated and the progress of each child is heightened. Rebecca Reeve our School Pastoral Lead works closely with Mrs Blackwell to support PP children and families offering 121 support sessions within her designated Pastoral Support Day and sign posts families for areas of support.
We recognise that it is important to measure the success of this funding, so that we can continually evaluate the effectiveness of the money spent and its impact on standards. Due to this, Mrs Blackwell and Mrs Oldham continually monitor the progress of these children at regular intervals throughout the year to ensure that targets are being met. The progress of pupils who receive the funding is also shared and monitored by our Pupil Premium Governor and the Governing body, so that they can effectively evaluate the provision and the impact on standards.
