Year One: Spring 1  12/01/24

January 12, 2024
Year 1 2023 24
We’re really getting back into it now, getting back into routine has been lovely. We have been super busy this week with our computing block for the term. We have been learning how to control robots, understanding what an algorithm is and how robots use these instructions. We have planned and made predictions for different routes our robots may travel using these algorithms. We have worked really hard on our understanding of common and proper nouns. We also have started our new model text of the Gruffalo! In maths we have begun thinking about place values and understanding tens and ones. We were fortunate enough to join up with year 3 to play a game of boccia inPE.

in our continuous provision this week we have written a holiday leaflet about somewhere we’d like to travel to. We created our own creatures, inspired by the Gruffalo, and wrote about them, ensuring to use adjectives. We had to use our previous knowledge of greater than and less than signs to complete our maths work and also had name different animals, describing what they might eat.

Next week we will be moving onto alternate sounds for our phonics, sometimes these can be quite tricky to learn, so support at home with phonics would be amazing.
