Year 6 – Day Five

June 28, 2024
Year 6 2023 24

We had somewhat of a lethargic start to the day today with many only just making it to breakfast.

After destroying another box of Frosties and 132 loaves of bread we had the fun activity of packing and cleaning our tents. This was more work than any activity we had all week!

Once tents were clean (ish) and we had packed our suitcases (ish), we went on a hill walk. The views across Herefordshire and beyond we spectacular! Group 1 did a little climbing and exploring of the foliage while Group 2 went a little higher up the hill and, from what I could tell, explored echoes.

We returned to the minibus, headed back to site and ate our lunch.

Once the bus was loaded we said goodbye to Longtown and headed off.

I would like to state our enormous thanks to Longtown Outdoor Centre and in particular Dave who was with us most of the week. Also, thanks to the other instructors: Emma, Cherri, Joe, Giles and Mike. Most importantly, I would like to say thanks to the cooks – Dorris and Barbara. Without them filling the children’s bellies, this week would be tough.

I would like to say thanks to Miss Sartain and Mrs Reeve for giving up so much of their time this week to help me. These trips could not and would not happen without the generosity of these two giving up their time –  thanks.

As I type this, the children have started singing their unique range of songs. Are we nearly home yet?

See you soon,

A relieved set of teachers and 23 children.
