This week in Year One we have innovated our own story of the baby mouse, some children will be writing about tarantulas, some will be writing about crocodiles and some will be writing about unicorns. We have started looking at greater than, less than and equals to in our maths lessons, imagineing the symbols are hungry crocodiles who are always greedy and eat the bigger number. Continuing on with our topic of London, we have compared past a present and have begun to look at the Great Fire of London. We are super interested in this topic, learning awesome facts including where and when the fire started. In our art lesson this week, we experimented with water colours, adding to our beautiful sketches of Big Ben from a few weeks ago. Finally, we ended the week off well in our celebration assembly, where we could celebrate all those who achieved certificates for showing this terms value of courage.
In our continuous provision this week, we have been writing our own baby mouse stories, comparing numbers using <, > and =. We have been sorting and grouping objects based on their materials and have used the tweezers to place pompoms onto CVC words to build our fine motor strength.
We will have an interview with a family member sheet coming home next week. Could our grownups at home help us to interview a family member such as mum, dad or grandparent? This will really help with our next literacy topic as we will be writing all about our family member.
