Are you in the process of looking for the right primary school for your reception-aged child?

We are open for tours, please contact the office. For further information, see our admissions page.

Our After School Club runs everyday from 3.15pm until 6pm.

The club is supervised by members of staff from our school. The children receive healthy snacks and drinks and are involved in a range of exciting activities.

Pupils throughout the school have consistently good attitudes to learning and they work hard. They respect their teachers highly and say that learning is exciting.

Staff have responded positively to the much higher expectations and were quick to tell the inspector about their pride in working at Cogenhoe and about the successes they are achieving together.

Pupils wear their uniform with pride and are very supportive of each other.

Book your child's place for Forest School Easter Camp on 28th March via School Money!

Year 1 2024 25

We have done lots of music this week. We have learnt that the different letters make different sounds on the chime bars. We know that we can go up the scale and down the scale and that we can change the pitch. We had a go at composing our own music and wrote down our notations. In maths, we have been continuing working on greater than and less than and ordering numbers. In literacy, we have explored verbs and have written our first ever hot write. We did an experiment in our science lesson this week to look at what materials are waterproof and what materials are absorbent. In topic, we are still looking at the Great Fire of London, talking about Samuel Pepys who wrote a very special diary. We had a go at writing our very own diaries as if we were in the year 1666.

In our continuous provision this week we have been making Tudor houses and Lego houses for our science experiment. We have been teaching each other a phonics lesson. We have also been practicing our fine motor skills using the geoboards and ordering numbers for maths. Finally, we have been identifying different verbs we can see in an image.

A friendly reminder that an interview with a family member sheet was sent home. Could our grownups at home help us to interview a family member such as mum, dad or grandparent? This will really help us when we write all about our family member. Can I request that all these sheets come back by the 11th October 2024.
