Early Years 2024 25

This week, the children have thoroughly enjoyed enacting our focus story, Little Red Riding Hood, using props to bring the tale to life. Through this activity, they have been learning key vocabulary and the sequence of events in the story, enhancing their storytelling and comprehension skills.

In mathematics, the children have been exploring repeating patterns in different ways, including repeating sounds, natural objects, movements, and shapes. This hands-on approach has helped them learn about 2-part and 3-part patterns, developing their understanding of pattern recognition and creation.

The children also went on an exciting walk around the village, clipboards in hand, spotting and ticking off local features along the way. The adventure was made even more special by a wonderful, unexpected treat from the local shop and post office!

Additionally, the children explored the artwork of Alma Woodsey Thomas, creating their own masterpieces while listening to jazz music. This activity continued their celebration of the rich contributions of Black culture, allowing them to express their creativity and connect with influential artists.

It has been a wonderful week full of learning and exploration!
