Welcome back

I hope you all had a fantastic half term, back to school now!

The week started by going to forest school and there we were making caterpillars with conkers. We also saw the new hay bales around the fire pot, they were great fun to climb on.

We started our new Literacy story “Peace at Last” by Jill Murphy.

The classroom was decorated to celebrate the festival of light known as Diwali. This happens in October or November each year. We used different coloured rice to make Rangoli decorations, a rangoli image means welcome.

Diwali is celebrated by many people around the world, also religions such as Sikhs and Hindus.

Another tradition we celebrated was Bonfire night, we drew pictures of fireworks using chalks, we talked about the beautiful colours and different sounds the fireworks made. We made different patterns of what the fireworks looked like using flour, glitter and sticks.

In maths we have started to learn about 2D shapes. This week we concentrated on circles and triangles, we were talking about the properties of them, for example how many sides and corners they have.

What a busy first week back!
