Year 2: 18.3.25

March 18, 2025
Year 2 2024 25

On Tuesday, Year 2 got on the coach and went off to visit Coventry Transport Museum. This linked in with our topic ‘Inspiring Innovators’. We started off the morning with a Victorian cycles workshop. The children had 4 activities to work through, one was testing two different scooters with two different tyres, to see which was more comfortable to ride on. The next was using K’NEX to build the metal bars from the different Victorian cycles that we had seen. The children had to then look at the safety of each bike and choose which they think was the safest and talk about why. They also had to go on balance beams and trying to balance different shapes on top of each other, which taught the children about why Penny farthings were so tricky to ride. After lunch we took a stroll around the museum and looked at different types of cars and how they have transformed since Karl Benz’s first car. The children were very excited to finish the tour by seeing the fastest car in the world. They then got to spend their pocket money in the shop, which they were very excited about!
